Early
in the 1900s Edgar Cayce discovered that he could access the
"Akashic Records" (ie the record of everything that has happened
in history) when in a trance state, and over the decades until his death
in 1945, gave over 14,000 "readings" to people, recorded by his
secretary. The readings were mostly for curing people, and incredibly accurate
and unorthodox; the cures only failed to work when the person concerned
failed to take the (sometimes rigorous) remedial steps prescribed. On countless
occasions in his trance state Cayce explained to his patients that the health
problems they had were due to inherited "karma" from previous
incarnations; and hundreds of the readings describe in considerable detail
previous incarnations in Atlantis, from around 10,000BC and going back tens
of thousands of years earlier. There is a lot of fascinating and rather
"in-depth" material; Cayce maintains that "souls" or
"spirits" have been incarnating on earth in various types of human
bodies for around 10.5 million years, and that dozens of civilisations have
come and gone, some more advanced than our current one. There is plenty
of thought-provoking esoteric and spiritual information in this excellent
book.
