Spirituality

The Third Eye by T. Lobsang Rampa

This is Rampa`s first book of 20-odd and overall the best of the lot. He describes his childhood in Tibet in the early 1900s before the Chinese invasion, with superb detail, as he leaves home, becomes a young monk, and rises through the ranks as he learns about Tibetan Buddhism. Although written in a very easy-to-read friendly and humorous style, the book nevertheless contains plenty of valuable information, some of it quite advanced.

The Rampa Story by T. Lobsang Rampa

This is a very interesting book describing the author`s travels out of Tibet into the East, and his extreme experiences in various countries, including a very hard time in a Japanese concentration camp during WW2. When he becomes old and frail in the 1950s, he goes back to Tibet, and in a highly-advanced series of events he transmigrates into a younger Englishman`s body in England, and starts writing his books. Astonishing reading.

The Prophet by Kahil Gibrain

"Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of Love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving; To rest at the noon hour and meditate Love's ecstacy; to return at eventide with gratitude; And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips." Conversations with God Book 1 by Neale Donald Walsh

Wow. At first you think is this guy a little well you know 'nuts'? But within a few chapters you realise that this is a wonderful book with some of the most profound thoughts written by an author in the 20th century. Truly a must read book. All religious people should read this as for me it doesn't dispell their religions in some ways it re-inforces what they have been saying for centuries. Brilliant. Brilliant. brilliant.

Great read, good story, not brilliantly written hence only four ouf five but still an essential read.

The Tao of Philiosopy by Alan Watts

What can you say about Alan and his books. Alan Watts was the first westerner to really understand and spread the word of spirituality from the east and bring it to the west. His simple writing makes difficult and complex theories accesible to everyone. This is just one of many books his son Mark has published from hundreds of hours recordings from his thousands of seminars. Unfortunatley Alan died in 1973 but the world is a far richer place for his being.
